AI Recaps & Story Hooks
What the recap and the story hooks are built from, who can make them, and who can read them.
FTTHelper has two AI tools that work from your session notes. The DM runs both. They read different notes and different people can see the results.
Session recap
- Who makes it: the DM, from the session page.
- What it reads: that session’s notes shared with the party or with the DM. Private notes are never included. If the session has a finished transcript, the DM can make the recap from the transcript instead.
- Who can read it: everyone in the campaign.
- If the session has no summary yet, the start of the recap becomes its summary.
Story hooks
- Who makes them: the DM, from the campaign page.
- What they read: players’ Private notes of the Desire kind from the campaign’s most recent sessions.
- What the AI sees: only the text of those notes. Author names are removed before anything is sent, and the model is told not to refer to specific players.
- Who can read them: only the DM.
So a Private Desire note is private from people, not from the hooks generator. Write it as something you would be glad to see turn up as a plot thread, with no name attached. To keep a thought out of the hooks entirely, save it as a Log or a Question.
Hooks are suggestions. The DM decides what, if anything, to use.
