Licenses and Attribution

FTTHelper is built on open gaming content. We use openly licensed sources and link out to everything else, so creators are credited and the platform stays within the rules.

System Reference Documents (SRD 5.1 and 5.2)

This work includes material from the System Reference Document 5.2 (“SRD 5.2”) by Wizards of the Coast LLC, available at https://www.dndbeyond.com/srd. The SRD 5.2 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, available at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.

Some game content is drawn from the System Reference Document 5.1 (SRD 5.1), made available by Wizards of the Coast under CC-BY-4.0 and the Open Game License 1.0a (OGL-1.0a).

Open OGL and Creative Commons sources

Compendium data (items, monsters, spells) is aggregated from Open5e and the D&D 5e API, under the OGL-1.0a and Creative Commons licenses. Monster stat blocks are Open Game Content where they derive from an OGL source (see the publishers listed below); other compendium entries link their specific source and license.

Third-party OGL publishers

FTTHelper includes open game content from the following publishers under the Open Game License 1.0a. A full breakdown with copyright notices is in the License & Attribution document, which also contains the full text of the OGL 1.0a. The CC-BY-4.0 is not reproduced there; its canonical full text is published by Creative Commons.

What we deliberately exclude

Some content is owned as Product Identity by its publishers and is not part of the open gaming licenses we use. We do not include this content in our compendium or our NPC Codex, even in paraphrased form. The following are explicitly excluded:

The full Product Identity list and our rights decisions live in the project’s Content Rights Inventory.

AI-generated art

NPC Codex portraits and other AI-generated art on FTTHelper are original works generated via third-party image-generation services under commercial-use terms. Our current providers are:

AI-generated art is clearly disclosed on the art card. We do not generate art from copyrighted descriptions or use LoRA models trained on scraped copyrighted material. The full art-rights policy is in the project’s Content Rights Inventory §E.

Our content and your content

AI-generated art and original writing created on FTTHelper are our own work or our users work, not reproductions of copyrighted books. Worlds, NPCs, characters, and art that you create remain yours. Your use of FTTHelper is governed by our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer

FTTHelper is an independent fan tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast LLC. Dungeons and Dragons and related marks are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast. We reference external settings and sources rather than reproducing their copyrighted material.

Looking ahead

As FTTHelper grows we may pursue formal licensing to expand the official content available. Until then, the catalog grows from the SRD, open OGL and Creative Commons sources, community contributions, and our own creations.
