Hanging Moss
Huge plant, unaligned
Along the slow bends the grey-green moss hangs off the bankside trees in curtains thick as sails. What the curtains catch, the riverbank keeps, and the moss remembers the shape of every boat it ever closed over.

Traits
False Curtain. While the moss remains motionless among riverside trees or hanging vegetation, it is indistinguishable from ordinary moss curtains.
Actions
Multiattack. The moss makes two smother attacks.
Smother. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 15 ft., one Large or smaller creature. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage, and the target is restrained (escape DC 15) as the moss closes over its face. A restrained creature can hold its breath as if underwater, but it cannot speak above a whisper until the grapple ends.
Spore Charm (Recharge 5–6). The moss shakes a cloud of pale spores over the bank. Each creature within 30 feet of the moss must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be charmed by the moss for 1 minute. While charmed the creature regards the moss as a safe resting place and will not willingly attack it. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
