Watchling
Small aberration, chaotic evil
The order believed a keeper could be improved. A watchling is what an apprentice becomes after enough of that: something with too many eyes and not enough of the face they were arranged on, flying badly, still trying to keep a watch rota nobody issued. They are worst in pairs, because they still hand the watch off to each other.

Unsteady Flight. If the watchling ends its turn in the air it falls, taking half the usual falling damage.
Handing Off the Watch. While it can see another watchling within 60 feet, the watchling has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and cannot be surprised.
Actions
Multiattack. The watchling makes two claw attacks.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
Shared Sight. The watchling fixes every eye on one creature it can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw or take 7 (2d6) psychic damage and be frightened of the watchling until the end of its next turn.
