Loremaster’s notes

The Life Domain Cleric is the most durable healer in SRD 5.1. Disciple of Life (level 1) adds 2 + spell level to every healing spell you cast on someone else — at level 5, that's a Cure Wounds restoring 3d8+2d8+4+5, average 22 HP. At level 7, Prayer of Healing (always prepared) restores 4d8+15 (always maxed) for the whole party in 10 minutes. Spirit Guardians is the move: once it's running, any enemy who ends their turn within 15 feet takes 3d8 (or 4d8 at level 11) and has speed halved. Combined with medium armor, a shield, and a warhammer, you can walk into the front line. Race choice: Hill Dwarf for the bonus HP. Hill Dwarf also gets a +1 WIS at character creation. Mountain Dwarf works if you want medium armor + martial weapons from level 1.
