Loremaster’s notes

Arcane Trickster is the most flexible Rogue in SRD 5.1. At level 3 you get Mage Hand Legerdemain (you can use your bonus action to control an invisible, mechanical hand 30 feet away to deliver touch spells, pick locks, plant items, or steal). Combined with Sneak Attack's "you have advantage" trigger, you can fish for Sneak Attack from behind a wall. At level 9, Magical Ambush: any creature failing a save against your spell takes Sneak Attack on top. At level 13, Versatile Trickster: your Mage Hand can be used as a "help" action at range (gives allies advantage on the target). At level 17, Spell Thief: you can counterspell a spell (using your reaction) AND cast it once yourself within 8 hours. Race: Lightfoot Halfling for Lucky (reroll natural 1s on attacks, ability checks, and saves) and Hide Behind — the closest half-feat to "free advantage on every attack."
