Loremaster’s notes
The Ancients Paladin is the "I protect the party from casters" paladin. Nature's Wrath (level 3) lets you cast Entangle as a bonus action: a 20-foot-square area, restrained on a failed STR save, taking 1d6 bludgeoning at the start of its turn. Aura of Warding (level 7) is the signature: all creatures within 10 feet have resistance to all damage from spells. This includes AoE damage from Cone of Cold, Fireball, Meteor Swarm. For the 4-person party that clusters around the paladin, this is roughly "I subtract 1/2 of incoming spell damage from all of us." Strong vs. caster-heavy campaigns. Undying Sentinel (level 15) is a free "I would have died but didn't" reaction. Once per long rest, you take no damage when you would drop to 0 HP. This is the paladin to bring when the DM has a Wizard NPC in the BBEG fight.
